More Loan-A-Goat homes are being assessed, and additionally, Goat Clubs formed.   This is Loan-A-Goat on a community basis.   It’s a pilot scheme down in Muona at the moment, but the expectation is that a local group (probably the same volunteers who have proved their reliability and commitment working in our Agri-Gardens) will collectively care for three goats, with the milk going to the orphans and other vulnerables in their village.

And finally, we’ve met some of the children that are being sponsored by our friends in the UK, and all are very eager to let you know how much your kindness means to them, and how much they appreciate your help with their education.
In turn, they’ve been carrying wood and sand to help build the Dairy Unit, fencing, and new Khola being built for our male goats.   Many have also benefited from the mosquito nets donated as part of our Christmas Gift Scheme last year

           – so thank you everyone!

with special emphasis on manure production and planting legumes to improve the quality of the barren soil.
Training in goat husbandry and milk production will now also be offered.

It’s also been great to be able to assist some of these groups with materials as they rebuild or re-roof the homes of the elderly recently destroyed in the torrential rains and flooding. Usually these huts also house orphans – so many live with frail elderly relatives, all that’s left of their devastated families.

Training in agricultural best practice continues,
