Construction, cassava & Christmas!

During the last month our Centre in rural Malawi has been busy …..
We resurfaced a community bridge, heavily used, carrying both pedestrians & vehicles, linking the tarmac road with the market place, businesses, high school, health and water facilities. We’d built it several years ago after total destruction following a cyclone, but the surface needed replacing and had become dangerous. So old materials were stripped off and sturdy poles and timbers set into place. Now the hundreds of villagers & school children using the bridge daily can cross safely.
We completed building 100 household toilets, supplied bedding, distributed cassava cuttings to another 250 families, paid exam fees for our 46 high school students, and provided plastic sheeting to line about 180 roofs.
But one important task that’s still in hand is buying goods for Christmas gifts for the particularly needy. We’re aiming to bring a seasonal smile to the faces of several thousand people — by giving bundles of soaps, soya packs and maize — providing 10 carb & protein-rich meals for 400+ families.
