Thousands without safe water ...

There were 6 borehole pumps in desperate need of maintenance, some we managed to temporarily repair just to give at least a bit of water, but others had completely broken down. This not only meant health was at risk when potentially polluted water sources were seen as the only alternative, but without a safe local source, the women spent hours walking to other villages many times a day to fetch their family’s supply. This time pressure left lots of other important tasks undone, including the preparation & care of fields to grow food.

So during this month, we repaired all 6 pumps bringing safe water back to 1,459 households, about 6,000 people.
